Sign at Junction 24M6 Junction 24

Junction 24 is the second restricted access junction in a row, this is opposite way round to junction 25 in that it has a southbound exit and northbound entrance. As can be seen from the diagram it is a very simple junction, two slip roads leading to a 2 lane A road. This design is surprising in few that the road it is joining is the A58 once the main Trunk Road from Liverpool to Leeds, a busy urban road and secondly it is the main southbound exit from St Helens, quite a sizeable town, in view of both of these factors it may have been better to build a roundabout.
